TITLE: “Autism and psychological colonialism.”
This webinar will draw from lived experience and explore the parallels between the Cultural Deficit Model, as the main ideology behind the Colonial Mindset, and the Social Deficit Model which is still the most common lens through which autism is perceived by the public.
Joris Lechêne is a trainer in anti-racism, bias, and decoloniality who has lived experience of autism. Most recently, he exposed the structural and design biases in the UK passport system when its AI system refused to verify the photograph he provided, showing it was not able to accurately process non-white facial features.
It takes place online on Thursday, 3rd March 2022, at 16.00-17.00 GMT.
