Joshua Roche

I am a student at the university of Manchester and have previously been a support worker for both children and adults with autism. I found a joy in working alongside these individuals whilst also noting both positive and negative public attitude making for an interesting reflection on societal norms and conformity. I want to challenge public perception to embrace neurodiversity as a driving force of innovation within occupational and educational settings and learn how these environments can be reshaped to allow the autistic community to thrive. I am also deeply interested in mental health and the implications of a body-based meditation practice on lowering stress and anxiety levels within this community. This interest aligns with my passion for holistic psychology, the practices of which I try to incorporate into my daily life; meditation, nutrition, fitness etc.

Outside of academia I like to swim, hike, rock climb and am currently attempting to learn the piano. Feel free to contact me about research on anything from psychology to religion, political ideology, and evolutionary anthropology.
